Daphne Bom
drawings

Daphne Bom is in 1964 geboren in Kaapstad, waar zij een kunstopleiding
heeft genoten. Sinds 1993 woont en werkt zij in Rotterdam. Daphne noemt
zichzelf “een materialist”. Haar werk ontstaat uit het experimenteren met
materialen om zo eigenzinnige toepassingen te ontsluiten. Momenteel zijn
mensen – bekende en onbekende – hoofd thema in haar werk, en pakt ze
het liefst een stift, of een kwast vol geladen met Chinese inkt om de eerste
streep te trekken. Tekenen is de kunstvorm die uitstekend bij haar past.
Elementair, krachtig. Het liefst tekent ze snel, op locatie. Elke keer weer een
uitdaging.

Daphne Bom deelt haar passie voor tekenen graag met anderen.
Zij is ervan overtuigd dat als je je naam kunt schrijven je ook kunt tekenen.
Met een paar basis begrippen weet ze mensen van alle leeftijden hun eigen
kunnen te ontdekken. Zij doet dan onder meer door les te geven aan de
Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam.

van een portret in? Leer aan de hand van beelden uit de kunst en media;
portret tekenen. Kijk eens wat langer naar de Mona Lisa en let op hoe
de compositie, de voorgrond, de achtergrond en de accessoires het
beeld van het personage verder versterken. U gaat de bouwstenen van
het tekenen leren met verschillende materialen als inkt, potlood,
houtskool of conté. Aan de orde komen eenvoudige tekentechnieken,
compositie, volume en lijn-contouren en veel inspiratie.

Redactie - 13 november 2009 DELFSHAVEN - Voorbijgangers kijken
gefascineerd naar een film die wordt gedraaid op de openstaande
Lage Erfburg. Tot en met 22 november wordt de brug van 18.00 tot
21.00 uur omgetoverd tot een bioscoop. Telkens wanneer de Lage
Erfbrug open moet voor een voorbijvarende boot worden er films en
gedichten over Delfshaven op geprojecteerd. De films, die zijn gemaakt
door lokale kunstenaars en studenten, zijn een onderdeel van het project
'Bruggenslaan' georganiseerd door een groep bewoners die de positieve
aspecten van het gebied willen benadrukken. Onder meer de kunstenaars
Adolfo, Jesus Mircale Lab, Daphne Bom en de Theaterstraat vertonen

SELECTED to participate in RE-LEARN summerschool Brussels

Relearn is a summerschool with as many teachers as it has participants. It is about sharing and trying Free Culture practices, and is entirely done with Free, Libre and Open Source software. Relearn takes place in Variable, a collectively run F/LOSS Arts Lab in Brussels. It starts from the idea that tools are increasingly mediated by software and the algorithmic and legal dynamics that constraint and shape its use. Reconnecting to the physical and digital material of those tools is a means of (re)asserting ownership and ensuring active participation in the future of our work practices. Relearn starts on Sunday July 6 and ends Friday 11 July. It takes place in Variable, Rue Gallait 80, Brussels.
